What we have once enjoyed
and deeply loved we can never lose,
for all that we love deeply
becomes a part of us.

ORDINARY DAY

BY Sandi Rude (Nattys Grandma)

Waking in the night,

Unaware of what the day would bring.

I hear you waken and cry...

Just another moment in time.

All is well... ...

Returning to sleep

Unaware of what's to come.

Quiet night, silence all around

Just another moment in time.

All is well... ...

I waken with the dawn

Unaware of what's to come.

Daily routine, ordinary

Just another moment in time.

And all is well... ...

Screams rock the morn

Screams of horror, fear, and disbelief.

Knowing, but not knowing

What the day would bring.

It's a moment in time,

But all is not well... ...

Chaos reigning

Fear, horror, disbelief mingle

How could this be?

It was supposed to be an ordinary day.

Another moment in time...

Gone-

But changing my world forever...

Sadness so intense

Pain so deep-

Relentless

My mind can't comprehend

What has happened in a moment in time.

Changed forever,

Loss so deep

Life is altered

By that moment in time-

On another ordinary day

The day life changed.

Child of Heaven

Child of heaven come to earth
You just could not stay
This world could not hold you
And so soon you went away.

Like a rare and precious rose
Your lovely soul can't die
Budded here upon the earth
Now it will bloom on high.

You are a child of heaven
And will forever lie
In the arms of Jesus
For all eternity.

In August 2005 we held a memorial service for Nathalia. We had food and songs. Fellowship and poetry reading, below is a couple of those read that day. After the memorial was over we brought out 128 balloons 1 for each day of her life and released them. Each balloon had a laminated picture of her with some SIDS prevention facts.

This has been a very healing process I couldn't plan a birthday however this somehow took its place.

Nathalia Has Taught Me

Written by Kristin adapted from a poem written by an unknown author

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, to teach you a lesson or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become.

That is the way it is with your own children. And held especially true with Nathalia, When I looked in her eyes, I knew that every moment I spent with her, would affect my life in some way.

But sometimes things happen that are horrible, painful and very unfair. But in reflection I’ve realized that without dealing with and overcoming these obstacles I would have neverrealized my full potential, my deepest strength through God, and my willpower to go on.

All things happen for our good.  Nothing happens by chance or by means of bad or good luck. Death, Illness, injury, love, true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test our faithfulness to God and for our own personal growth.

Without life's challenges, life would be like a smoothlypaved, straight, flat road to nowhere.  Safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. Nathalia has greatly and wonderfully affected my life in so many ways. My successes as her mother have helped create who I am, And her Life and her passing have only been learned from.

In fact, they are probably some of the most poignant and important learning experiences I will ever have.

 Nathalia has taught

To Make every day count. Appreciate every moment I am given,And everyone I am given to experience it with Take from it everything that I possibly can, for I may never be able to experience it again.

Hold my head up because I am a unique person,That I am worthwhile and I can make a difference in someone’s life.I hold purpose in Gods plan And that I am truly loved. She has taught me

Not to judge, because all people deserve a chance. To love before I Hate, For some people never get to experience love. To accept people for who they are, Though I may not like it.  To make friends with people I don’t know,  And actually listen to what they say, Because everyone has something to tell me that I can learn from.

And most of all she has renewed my faith…In a loving and faithful God. For I may have my short comings,But through Him I can accomplish anything, Be anything and overcome anything.

For He is truly an AWESOME GOD!

Thank you Nathalia, I love you baby girl!

I’ll See You In The Morning

Written by Sandi and Kristin

Adapted from a poem written by Cheri Mckay LawsonIn Memory of Alex Dixon

An angel was sent to Indiana

On December 17, 2004

To get a baby named Nathalia

And take her home to Heaven

Tho’ her time here was very short

She was just four months old

What baby Nathalia accomplished

Has really got to be told

 She arrived on this earth

At a very good size

She was healthy and happy

And for a baby, quite wise

 Her hair was dark brown

And her eyes were hazel

Her smile was big

Everything on her was new

 She fit in quite well

In this family of three

Mommy, Daddy and Grandma

Topped her family tree

 There are aunts, uncles, cousins,

Grandma’s and grandpa’s too

And so many friends loved Nathalia,

Everyone knows, it’s true

 This sweet, little newborn baby

Never took anything

But, what she was able to give

Should make our hearts all sing

Tho' she didn’t stay very long

she was, here long enough

To bring abundant joy and love

And so much other good stuff

 She laughed and she smiled

She cooed and she giggled

This brand new little baby

Had hands and feet that she wiggled

 She brought a family together

And when friends would drop by

It was Nathalia Jasmine,

This little sweetie girl

 Who would bring a smile

To someone’s face

And without even trying

She’d just light up the place

 Oh, what a joy

To have known this baby

Who came straight from Heaven

With a purpose, and maybe,

 God just sent her

To make us aware

Of each precious day

We’re given down here

 For life’s just a vapor

It’s but a moment in time

We must treasure each moment

Life is really sublime

 Sometimes, we think of family

As being all our own

But, they really belong to God

We just have them on loan

And when He chooses to take them

Tho’ we should know it’s best

God still stays and comforts

Giving us peace and rest

 When thinking now of Nathalia

And all that she has given

Maybe we should question

The way that we’ve been living

Many, have had years and years

To live for God on earth

And yet, they haven’t accomplished

What Nathalia has since birth

If she could only speak to us

From heaven’s golden shore

She’d probably try to tell us

About what we have in store

She might say, Mommy and Daddy,

Everything here is grand

I’m so very happy

To live in this golden land

There are lots of other babies

I’m really not alone

And oh, when Jesus holds me

I’m glad that I’m His own

 Angels here are everywhere

They’re wearing gowns of white

And guess what, mom and dad

Up here there is no night

I’m playing now on streets of gold

And I saw a crystal sea

Oh, you just can’t imagine

How great life is for me

 I love being with Jesus

And when the angels sing

All us babies clap our hands

It’s just the grandest thing

I asked Jesus when you’re coming

And He said before long

He’ll bring all His children

To join our heavenly throng

Oh mom and dad it’s neat here

No one comes early or late

Jesus brings you right on time

Up to heaven’s gate

He’ll tell me when you’re coming

And when you step on heaven’s shore

I’ll be the little one waiting for you

Right at heaven’s door
